To observe The Unamused Kraken is to discover an alternate world: one rooted in contemplation of the universe and enhanced by enjoyment of the idiosyncracies of existence. The solo project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cherylyn Geers has become a full experience, accompanying thoughtfully crafted songs with instrumentation consisting of guitar, harmonica, and percussion (cajon and tambourine) operated by foot pedals. As she completes work on her second album, "Songs for Roaming Vagabonds", she performs locally at marathons, farmers' markets, and other events around the Cincinnati area, in addition to shows regionally in cities like Cleveland and Indianapolis, and on tour in places ranging from Minneapolis, to Nashville, to New York. Her first album, "Starlight & Cicadas", is available on Bandcamp, both digitally and on CDs with hand-crafted packaging.
