More About eric_colville

After years of performing in blues and classic rock cover bands, I began writing my own songs. While my writing is influenced greatly by the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and many of the Americana artists of the 70's, I do feel that I have found my own identity and style while engaging in the passion and struggle of songwriting. If you're a fan of this music, and songs that can be both heavy and beautiful - I hope you'll stop by and give a listen.

Eric Colville is an award-winning songwriter with songs placed on network
television including ABC's "All My Children." and PBS “Roadtrip Nation.” Eric has previously performed at the 30A Songwriting Festival and The Kerrville Folk Festival alongside many well-known songwriters including John Oates (Hall & Oates), Shawn Mullins, Gary Louris (Jayhawks), and Jeffrey Steele. His latest album entitled “Philadelphia” was released in January 2022.

Fun Stuff about the Artist

Embarrassing Moment

Immediately after our first song performing at a Borders Cafe, the manager said we were too loud and told us to turn down. Now the drummer had a single conga, I had an acoustic guitar with no amp and both the electric guitar and bassist were as low as you could go and still register a signal. Anyway - I sheepishly agreed we'd "pull it back a little" and told the band the next song would be a tune called "1000 Miles." Just as I counted it off, the bass player muttered "this oughta rock" under his breath, referring sarcastically to our new impossibly low volume. Anyway, the comment just hit me funny out of the blue and I fell to the floor laughing. The electric player thought I had a heart attack or something and got down in my face to check on me. I managed to mutter the "this oughta rock" comment and the band joined into the laugh-fest. We were literally rolling on the floor and the shocked look on the faces of the audience kept us laughing. It took us 15 minutes to recover.
