More About Annie Frazier Music

Hello! I'm Annie Frazier.

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, but now I call Asheville, NC home.

I play a lot of instruments poorly, and couple fairly well. :)

I'm a busker, performer, singer-songwriter, ukulele teacher, band leader (I have an indie-pop project called Sad Girl Music Club, and also a madrigal remix/a capella band called Holler & Crow).

My musical influences include Regina Spektor, Carole King, Feist, First Aid Kit, Mountain Man, Kimya Dawson. I was trained in classical viola and musical theater, both of which influence my songwriting and performance style.

I'll be live streaming Monday evenings at 6pm EDT. Hope to see you out there!
Fun Stuff about the Artist

My Instrument

I grew up playing piano (I never practiced), classical viola (it hurt my wrists and I grew to resent it), and guitar (I only seemed to be able to learn one song: Blackbird).

But then, in college- my boyfriend went with his family to Hawaii for spring break. They told him he had to bring me something back, and he shrugged and said 'how about a ukulele?'. I kept the uke, but left the boyfriend. And my musical journey was never the same. (And, bonus, it was a *nice* ukulele. A Kala!)

The ukulele gave me a wonderful connection into music. I've carried it all over the US and Canada, and it's the instrument that helped me build the confidence to jam with friends around the campfire, go to open mics, busk, perform on stage, and eventually start writing my own music and becoming a professional musician. I eventually came back to guitar (I *love* my electric guitar) and to viola (it's the best jamming instrument). And even piano (although I still don't practice).

Uke on!!
