My sophomore year of high school I was asked to sing the national anthem for a key club division rally. As you can imagine I was nervous as heck already; I hadn't sung the national anthem since my eighth grade year. Singing the National Anthem was always a challenge for me so I always started as low as I could. That's not what happened this time.... I started two octaves higher than usual and you can image what came next. My voice cracked multiple times and I began to forget the words due to all the nervousness. Then I laughed, said sorry repeatedly and started over. My classmates talked about it for days along with other key clubbers from different schools in our parish. It was also all over social media. It was a mess and I haven't sung the Nation Anthem since.
