More About jasonportizo

Jason Portizo has been part of the NJ Shore music scene since 2002. As a guitarist and bassist he's played in nearly every bar and club in New Jersey as well as several across the country on tour.

Jason plays regularly as the bass player for cover band Don't Know Jack and for hip hop band Chris Rockwell and the Stickball Social Club.

As a solo artist, Jason plays acoustic versions of songs ranging from recent rock/alternative to pop classics. His arrangements branch out to other genres such as motown, soul, R&B, and hip-hop. While Jason takes the stage alone, he has help from his custom built pedalboard to loop and modulate so he never sounds like "just" one guy.

My upright basses are named "Bertha" and "Gertrude". The names seemed suiting for large ladies of such high class.

My most recent addition is a cheap Squier Strat I bought simply because it was pink. My luthier and I upgraded everything we could think of and made it play the best it ever will. I added a custom vinyl sticker and named her Ja
