More About erika may music

Jazzy~Vocals & Flute, Hippie~Offbeat & Cool, Chick~Forever Young
“erika may combines playfulness with off-beat jazziness in a way that brings ‘cool’ to a whole new level.” says Jennifer Stroehmann of Silver City. “She is a very gifted singer and songwriter whose music is soulful in the most delightful and unexpected ways,” Silver City Sun News from erikamaymusic.com

“erika may plays the flute with passion, precision, nuance and a bell-like clarity whether she’s performing jazz, classical, world music or her own songs. Always charming her audience, she engages them with sultry vocals and whimsical humor.” Genie Walker, Tucson Desert Art Museum 2019

“erika may’s tone is warm and rich, her improvisations wild and free. I’ve worked with her in contexts ranging from Baroque music to vintage dance, to jazz to street bands, and I truly believe she can sing and play anything and give it class”
Paul Stamler, radio programmer KDHX, St. Louis
Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

playing on the street can be fun, one time some guy came up and said he could whistle. So I let him accompany me by whistling - he was amazing!!

Sometimes people take photos of you and post them on social media, it's] a fun way to make new friends and fans!

Embarrassing Moment

I was all "fan-girl" when I met Wendy Rule, I really like her music and got tongue-tied and giggly!

My Instrument

My flute's name is Beatrix because she has a beautifully monogramed B on her - it's really for the original brand, but I think Beatrix is a good name for her!

I still have my very first cello. It's a half size baby cello that I started on when I was 8 years old. My sisters and brothers and I all performed in the family orchestra. My mom is a violinist and she arranged hymns and favorite classical pieces for us to perform at church.
