More About dougforshey

I have been writing and performing my own songs since the age of 15. I grew up in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania. I was influenced by everything from Roger Miller and Buck Owens, to Beatles, Stones, James Taylor, Don Henly, Townes Van Zant and Guy Clark to name a few. I played in several local bands before moving to Nashville in 1995.
Since moving to Nashville I have been a staff writer and have written songs with some of Nashville's best. I have recorded a solo album, Crazy Gravity, available on ITunes and 2 albums with my rock band The Dudes Terrific. I opened for Willie Nelson, on the day that Johnny Cash Died. I have played many times at the Bluebird Cafe and other famous venues.
I am currently working on a new solo album and playing regularly around town.
I am looking forward to launching the next faze of my solo career and stepping up from solo acoustic to full band shows this year.

I am finding my fans, gathering my tribe,

Fun Stuff about the Artist

Embarrassing Moment

While playing in an original/cover band in the late 80's, part of the show was an AC/DC medley, during which I got up on the bar and duck walked like Angus. One night I stepped up on the bar stool, got up on the bar and duck walked down to the other end and back. When I stepped back down onto the stool to hop down, the stool kicked out from under me and my feet flew straight out and I hit the concrete floor flat on my back with my Les Paul strapped to me. It totally knocked the wind out of me, but I managed to not miss a note of Highway to Hell and make my way back up to the stage with out looking like too much of a fool...

Glad the audience were all drunk!

My Instrument

My favorite instrument right now is a 1962 Gibson LGO 3/4 size acoustic guitar that my stepfather bought for me at a yard sale for $50. I researched it and found it is worth around $800. I had it set up and it plays and sounds incredible! It has become my favorite guitar to write on and I have written many of my favorite songs on it over the last 5 years.

What a bargain for $50!
