I grew up in South Africa, the product of an English father and a South African Mother. Moved to the UK in 1993 and absolutely love it here.
I play the (rhythm) guitar and the drums and have flirted with the Piano and the Organ. When I was a kid my Mum always dragged me out to play the organ to friends and family - perhaps that's where I learned to love having an audience!
With the Coronavirus effectively killing off my gigs (and income) like many musicians out there I looked for other avenues for my music. Stumbled across this fantastic platform - look out StreetJelly! :)
I sincerely hope you will enjoy my music!
Ah - I remember performing a Country gig at a club known as the Didcot Railroaders about a year ago. I was just getting nicely into singing Chris Norman's Gypsy Queen when I suddenly felt I was going to collapse in a heap on stage. I hastily mumbled an apology to the audience and sat down.
Someone from the audience, recognising that I may have had a low sugar "moment", rushed up on stage and shoved a glucose tablet in my mouth... after a suitable pause to allow the body to absorb the sugar.... I got up and, embarrassed as all get out, said, "now where was I?" which of course brought the house down.
I think the red glow from my blushes were probably brighter than my light show!!
My guitars are known by their model or manufacturer name. So... I have:
The Godin (a lovely Godin thin body acoustic which is my fave guitar)
The Strat (A Fender Closet Classic Strat I use for some Shadows instumentals)
The Squire (A cheap Bullet Squire in white that I completely adore!)
The Tele (A Baha-made Blonde Telecaster that I use occasionally as "the spare")
I am also a drummer and have a wonderful DW Frequent Flyer kit - you might come across it sometime! ;)
