More About billydjohnson

I've been playing guitar since I was 13 years old. My dad taught me a few chords, but for the most part I am self taught. I can't read music. I can play guitar, bass, keyboards, mandolin, and I sing. I'm a singer/songwriter with a very small home studio. I have released 3 albums on all major stores like iTunes and Google Play. I'm 32 years old and I love people! I don't have a large fanbase but the fans I do have are very loyal; I love them very much!
Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

The most wild moment I can remember is kind of a sad one and happy one at the same time. After Hurricane Katrina had hit New Orleans, many people had came from New Orleans to Lake Charles to live until their homes got restored or just to live for good. I had a gig at a place called Breezy's one night and I played a song called "New Orleans Ladies". The song has lyrics that say "from Bourbon Street to Esplanade". Well, since we had all of those ladies now living in Lake Charles where I lived at the time, I changed those lyrics to street names of streets in Lake Charles. I sang "from Ryan Street to Prien Lake" and people just loved it. It's a memory I will truly never forget!

Embarrassing Moment

The most embarrassing moment for me as a musician was when I was performing an acoustic gig and was trying to impress a girl that came to watch me play and my dad was the only one yelling and cheering at the end of each song. He's my biggest fan and he would go crazy, but it was a small bar so everyone else was just carrying on talking and drinking while he was yelling and cheering. I'm sure I blushed a time or two.

My Instrument

I have several musical instruments but my instrument of choice is my acoustic guitar which is a Breedlove. It does have a funny story behind it. I used to have a bad gambling problem. I would literally pawn my instruments to go gamble. Well, I had an Ovation that I wasn't a fan of anymore because of the round back, so I was dying to get a new guitar. So I would frequently pawn it to gamble. One day, I went to gamble and hit for several thousands of dollars on a slot machine. I walked into the music store the next day and bought my Breedlove and I absolutely LOVE it! I've since quit gambling and banned myself from every casino in Louisiana but I literally feel like I "won this guitar", lol!
