I've played in several different bands (including my current band Every Man A King), written hundreds of songs, and performed in front of thousands of people. I wouldn't say I'm the bee's knees or anything. That's for you to decide! But I love playing for myself and for other people.
Beyond me and my love of playing music, I love listening and watching live music, too!
Mostly, I'm just stoked to be part of this live-music-supporting community. :)
Cheers! Here's a token to ya!
I once had a large pair of granny-style undergarments thrown at my head while I was on stage. 'Nuff said!
A band I was in opened for a big regional act to a crowd of about 500 people. When we were done, we unloaded out the sliding glass door at the back of the club, which was kind of behind the stage.
After putting our equipment back in the van, I was going back in to hear the headliners, only to discover a bouncer had closed the sliding glass door...by walking straight through it!
A dozen cuts, some strange looks and a good bit of embarrassment later, a cute waitress put some Snoopy bandaids on me and sent me on my way.
In 1995 I sold my first acoustic guitar to a girlfriend who I stopped seeing a few weeks later. I wish I still had it!
But I've had my Takamine acoustic for 20 years now, and I love it. It's not an especially great looking or sounding guitar, but it's been through hundreds of shows and countless hours of playing and writing. I've tried writing on one of my electrics, but I always do my best work - even when the song is a rocker - writing on my Takamine acoustic.
I have nicer guitars, but it'll always be my baby.
