I had the opportunity to live in Seattle WA. They have an area in the heart of the city where musicians can provide open air performances. Its called Pike Market. Youll see some of the best and worst acts. I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to play there. I developed a claw and hammer picking style that you'll hear in most of my performances. I met other street performers and took advice. I learned songs from them. I taught them songs. I jammed with violin players and other guitarists (splitting the tips of course).
Mostly now I am always in the process of creating my first group of songs. I am working on my first album entitled "dirty blue jeans". Expressing the transition I have made as a blue collar laborer into a musician.
I want my music to have pop appeal. Mostly I hear a folky/jazz blend but I write rock music too.
Please enjoy and Ill eventually have music on CD baby to be heard and purchased if you like it.
Enjoy!
Mostly what comes to mind is when I was learning guitar at first I would go down to Hermies music and try out pedals. I roughly knew the intro to Voodoo Child (Slight Return). I would plug in and butcher that intro just getting my chops up. The sales associate knew darn well I wasn't purchasing it. But he let me play anyway....Its probably how he learned the wah pedal.
My first acoustic guitar was a Fender model DG-6. I named it "Stay Free" after an autograph I saw Jimi Hendrix sign to a fan. I had this guitar almost 5 years. In the end I had a porcelain pick-up in the sound hole. Also a battery powered amplifier. This was my rig. I could play distorted tones which boosted my song repertoire to a whole new level. Anyway I was homeless living on a rooftop in the middle of the city. I left it there for an afternoon of sightseeing. When I returned it was gone. I miss her.
