If you traveled throughout the Last Frontier of Alaska, you would never meet another artist quite like Ukulele Russ, and yet he seems to embody the bold, ever-youthful, Gonzo spirit of the Great Land. With his mastery on ukulele, not to mention harp, keyboard, beat-box, guitar and bass, Russ takes his audience to a place that seems frozen in time, delivering Zappa deep tracks in the same sets as 90's country and rap favorites from the turn of the last century. The complete bar-gnawing experience watching Ukulele Russ and His One-Man Frontier Band, with moments of self-aware spontaneous laughter and audience participation, is never complete without hearing this world-traveling minstrel perform several of his original numbers, donning his "Alaskan floral pattern" AKA camo. Life on the Street
Waking up in the middle of the night to a drunk bar patron post-show running football spear tackles into the side of my school bus / tour bus. I opened the window and asked him what he was doing. He told me to get out and to go home... I laughed.
That dude ended up being an Alaskan Reality TV star. Look at me now in comparison. I'm jealous... so what? hahaha
Embarrassing Moment
I thought this was a PG-13 site? haha... Just watch my show. I talk about embarrassing moments all the time. My show, for example, is one.
My Instrument
I had $30 in my pocket, in college, and was walking to the store for some brewskis. I made the mistake of walking by the music store with a $30 ukulele in the window. The rest is history... sure wish I had that beer though.
