My brother and I got together as often as we could to "pick and grin" for many years until he suddenly died a few years ago. Since then I have tried to play and sing alone, but it just never feels right. Maybe by sharing here I can get over that, and get back to music.
Never performed on the street. That is unless you count Christmas caroling through the neighborhood with the kids.
I played sax in a 60's soul band and one night, during a a freezing rain storm, our singers didn't show up for a local college dance. I was a bit altered and agreed to sing a few of their songs. Bad, very, very bad.
Several friends from my school were there to see us perform... we sucked. I always felt bad for the folks in the audience. They came out in awful weather and were rewarded with an awful show.
The first guitar I bought for myself got caught in a flood during our first night out tent camping across country in '77. After we found it downstream and dried it off, it was fine for a few days, then it split about a foot across the bottom side. I glued it together and used it for the next 26 years in my kindergarten and second grade classrooms. Now Im a retired teacher and that guitar is next to the stove, unstrung and officially retired as well. My wife bought the big box Guild (D-35) I use in the videos seen here later that autumn. It was much more than we could afford, but you gotta love a woman like that!
