I'm Sankarshan Kini. I studied Indian Classical music before having my mind blown by Metallica. I've been playing guitar for many years now and have played a bunch of genres from hard rock and pop to acoustic folk, cuban salsa and the blues. But it was jazz that got me hooked and I've been enjoying losing myself in the rich harmonies of Gershwin, Rogers, Kern and performers like Ellington, Monk and Scofield to name but a few.

I toured with a pop band in Bombay, now called Mumbai, and did a bunch of commercial and independent work with music in my eight years there. I moved to the quiet town of Auroville, in south India just a coupla months ago and am studying jazz by internalising the concepts, tips and tricks shown to me by some fine players on the internet and in my vicinity.

I also play the violin, mandolin, harmonica and trumpet.
