More About ShangoDaDon

When people hear Shango’s music, they can expect to hear Soul, R’n’B, Hiphop, Blues, and Reggae. While he was signed to Tiki Entertainment, he was told that his solo project would be difficult to push because, as told to him by lead producer Spookahuna, “we don’t know how to market you. You do reggae, you do rap, you do r’n’b, we don’t know what genre to push you in.” Frustrated, but determined, Shango left the label in 2003.

Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

I think the craziest moment I had while performing in the streets was when I actually met and later got to open for Gyptian while he was here in Hawaii. I was cruising in Waikiki with some friends, and we started up a cypher. I was just doing something over the beat that was playing and this guy walks up and, in a heavy Jamaican accent, said, "Come ah mi session at Crown tonight" When I turned around I was like, "OH SNAP IT'S GYPTIAN!" Funnier thing is I was already set to be one of the opening acts at The Crown (it's closed down now), but to have an official nod from the guy everybody was comin' to see was awesome!

Embarrassing Moment

Haven't really had one of those so, sorry, lol.

My Instrument

My instruments in the studio are my sequencer and workstation. On stage, it's my voice.
