More About Sam007

Been playing guitar for a little while - mostly simple picking & strumming because that's the way I like it - and because my geetar playing has never been the greatest! I'll be doing some old and new songs, and some of my own stuff. I've always loved music and writing. I released an electronica album in Oct 2015 called Who Needs Perfect by SaundersM1 - on Amazon, iTunes etc... Now I want to work on an acoustic guitar one and see what happens! ;) I came across StreetJelly purely by chance and have to say I love it. Such a variety of different artists doing their thang! I find it all very inspiring and a joy to be a part of... Hope to see you around sometime.
Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

StreetJelly is the only street I've performed on so far! I did an Open Mic night in London years ago and was a nervous wreck waiting for them to call out my name. I'd never played or sang in front of people before and listening to all the great players who were up before me made it even worse. When I came across this site I thought great I can try the Open Mic thing again!!! I thought it would be easy - just me sat in my room this time and no nervous wait for my name to be called out! Easy right? Wrong!!! I felt nervous setting up and then when I clicked START THE SHOW and saw my first viewer come on I kind of went in to hyperdrive! I stumbled through the first song and then my hand started shaking so badly on the second I had to give up picking and just strum with my thumb. I messed up the chords, forgot the words and only settled down (just) playing the last song. Hopefully the more I do the better I'll get!! Time will tell I guess ;

Embarrassing Moment

Back to that Open Mic night - it was in the Angel (I forget the name of the pub) and it was called the Virtually Acoustic Club (The Vac for short) The guys who ran it were really nice and very supportive. Anyway, I arrived with my guitar and put my name down to play. Then sat there in the small crowded room for what seemed forever. The announcer would call out the name of the act that was coming up and also the name of the one that was up after them. I prayed my name wouldn't be called but it was! The act before me was a guitar & bass duo, very funky and very good players. I thought what am I doing here?!! The duo finished and I went up. Long story short - half way through the first song the pick just flew out of my hand and landed at my feet. I stopped and stared at it then blurted out "Sorry, can I start that one again." It was a cringe worthy moment. I got some great advice that night, "If you lose your pick just strum with your thumb." And I've been doing that ever since! ;)

My Instrument

For years I wanted a guitar and never got one. There was 8 of us kids and no money for things like guitars. In my late teens I got my hands on an old broken guitar with three strings (E A D) which I whacked away at not knowing what I was doing (some things haven't changed!) In London I bought a Westfield from Andy's Guitar Shop in Denmark Street - red sunburst - which I still have. Couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a Seagull Coastline S6 which sounds great and I love it. I also just got an Ovation Ultra from the 80s on TradeMe (NZ secondhand site.) A good sounding guitar. I do a bit of home recording using Ableton Live Suite & FL Studio and am gearing up to record an acoustic album. Be nice to find some other StreetJelly folks to maybe collaborate with ;)
