I started playing guitar when I was in single digits. It is safe to say I have walked through life with a guitar in my hand. I have always been my job/guitar player. I fumbled around playing all genres of music until one day in Wurzburg Germany I stumbled across “Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughnâ€. It was an “oh shit†moment. The message? You can play the Blues in the Modern world. At the age of 30 I took my first run at the record labels as “Dangerous Dan Kelly and the Blues Junkiesâ€. I made my own label and released a CD which did better than I ever thought. It was called “FREE PARKINGâ€. My Drummer EZ Ed Zalar calls it baby D’s first steps. When I moved to the big city of Cleveland. I put together a new band with a new name and a new label. ZMD records was born. “Evolation†was our first release followed by Whiskey Breathâ€. Our new release “LONG HARD ROAD†is pending release in late 2013. I’m now 52 years of age and I see no end in sight. I will play and
I was playing a legendary place in Cleveland called “The House of Swing. I singled out a couple in the back and sang to them. When I was done I turned my attention to my Drummer EZ Ed Zalar. He yelled BITCH at me. Well I started to yell that over the mic. We were all laughing right up to the time this Huge Guy walks up to me on stage and asks me “did you just call my wife a bitch? Well the whole place saw it and got quiet waiting for the crushing blow I was about to get. I just said No and he sat down. I tried to patch things up during the break but, the damage was done. It was the only time I was ever glad to see someone leave my show.
I play a wide assortment of G&L and Fender Stratocasters with a couple of Wide body semi-acoustic Ibanez guitars. I also use a 92 Tele for good measure. Each Guitar has its own Personality I name them for ease of equipping them on stage.
My Main two guitars are a 1960â€s Custom rebuilt Stratocaster called The Aggravator. The other is a custom G&L Legacy Special I call Blue. I have a twin G&L to Blue I call Red. The rest of my rack sounds like this; Wendy, Rosalita, Jazzman, M, and Number One. I play three different amps all are modified tube amps. Fender Hotrod Blues Deville, Ramsey, Marshall. I have two pedal board set ups that house a verity of BOSS and DAN ELECTRO pedals.
