More About PaulBrueggemann

I started playing guitar when I was in 6th grade on my older brothers old Stella six-string that was missing the 4th string. The first song I learned was "the Old Gray Mare" from a Mel Bay book. When my bike was stolen- I used the insurance money to buy an electric guitar - a harmony. That got me into a band with some 8th graders. We were basically a Monkees cover band with a primary objective of impressing middle school girls. I was with this band through high school playing all the popular tunes bands played then - Stones, Creedence, Guess Who, Buffalo Springfield, etc - tried to play Zeppelin but no one could sing like Robert Plant. In college I started playing acoustic guitar and never played electric again. I played some paying gigs in college and after, but then life and a family happened. Music then became my primary hobby. I started playing open mikes. I enjoy meeting the other boomer musicians and many talented millenials and GenXers. Sadly, this all stopped with the pandemic.

Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

Never played on the street - in high school our band played at a fraternity party - we were supposed to be paid $100 - but the treasurer of the frat was passed out drunk when were were supposed to be paid at the end of the night.

Embarrassing Moment

Never played on the street -but once in a show in college - the lights had blinded me that after my set - I missed the stage stairs and fell all the way off the stage - held my guitar high so that I wouldn't bust it -but ended up with a huge bruise on my thigh where it hit the edge of the stage.

My Instrument

I have a Guild D35 I bought in 1975 - had wanted a Martin - but that was $100 more than I had at the time. Still have the Guild - but play mostly a D15 Martin now - still would like an Martin HD28 or while I'm wishing a Martin D45 - and I really would like one of those big old Gibsons while I'm thinking about it.
