I've been songwriting and performing around the Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, West Virginia and Western North Carolina area for more than 30 years. I currently perform as a solo singer/songwriter and also with Telecaster player extraordinaire Scott McKinney as Goat Whiskey Deluxe.

During a recent interview for a feature in the Bristol Herald-Courier, I was asked to classify my music to a specific style, which is something I've struggled to do. However after much thought I described what I write and play as Appalachian Soul. I love Country music, but I wasn't writing country songs yet they sounded a little country. I love Blues and Heartland Rock, but I wasn't writing those songs either but their sound was reflected in my music also. So was Bluegrass, Gospel, Folk, Mountain Ballads, Celtic and everything else I had heard floating through the hills, valleys and mountains here in the Southern Appalachians that I call home. All this mixes into Appalachian Soul Music.
