Mahihkan grew up in the North Central "Washington Park" Neighbourhood of Regina, Saskatchewan. Living life in "Canada's Worst Neighbourhood", Mahihkan chose the music scene to get away from the hard life in the streets. One funny moment for Mahihkan was a small house DJ gig, in the core area, Mahihkan set up all of his equipment and the night was going swell, until the wrong crowd caught wind of the house part. Needless to say, the wrong people were removed from the party and they came back armed. Mahihkan and crew did not try to rescue any equipment, solely their friends and the remaining alcohol that they brought with them. Scary but funny and a raw, real life story.
My most embarrassing moment on stage was playing in the band Deltabadhand. We played a small jam one weekend and hit the crowd really well. The audience were throwing $20.00 tips on the stage and in love with our energy, talent and style. The next weekend, the band leader suggested doing more originals (the rest of the jammers did not know how the originals sounded, arrangements etc...) Mahihkan was against the idea but went with it for the band. We got kicked off the stage after 3 songs. Very embarrassing.
My very first, and most precious instrument was an 1975 Aria Pro 2 custom guitar, with all original hardware and parts. Our home was broken into and I lost this guitar, never to be returned. I still look for this guitar almost 25 years later. I loved the Aria Pro 2 guitar because it was my late father's guitar, that he toured with. I named the guitar, "guitar" because I thought names for guitars are kind of corny!. Support your local live machine!!
