More About The Real Michael Morrise
I'm mostly into music technology and production, but I also sing, play keyboards, arrange tunes, write original music, and even play keys for my college improv comedy team.
I'm influenced by great composers, songwriters, and performers from across the world. I grew up listening to Huey Lewis, Amy Grant, and Phil Collins. In 8th grade, a friend gave me a mix CD with "Believe" by Cher on it, and that was when I began formulating my own taste for music. I basically never stop taking in 80s pop and rock. I know a little musical theatre, and my songwriting occasionally leans that way as well. I'm a sucker for British Invasion, soul, gospel, and anything that involves vintage synths.
Ordinarily it'll just be me, Michael Morrise (mÅ-REESE), on vocals and piano. Sometimes I'll get friends to join in.

Fun Stuff about the Artist
My Instrument
The full upright piano I grew up playing on, part of the reason I'm now a musician, resides at the Hurricane City Fine Arts Building in Hurricane, Utah.
My dad's old Yamaha YPR-20 keyboard, my gateway drug for sequencing and electronic music, was practically given away at a yard sale. His Yamaha DGX-500 digital grand travels the world with my parents.
I gifted my first new MIDI controller, a Behringer UMX610, to an aspiring composer friend of mine who just got married last year.
I current and favorite controller is a Nektar Impakt LX88, which has served me well and paid itself back through the work I've done with it.
