I started playing violin when I was living in Mississippi. I was six years old at the time, and at that age, practicing my instrument was the low-point of my day. I dreaded every lesson, despite having a wonderful teacher. They were long, tedious, and boring. However, my mom was determined to never let me quit, so I stuck with it for a while. It wasn't until the end of my seventh grade year, that I began to like the sound I was producing. Before I knew it, I was practicing because I wanted to. I joined the klezmer band at my temple, was accepted into the Contemporary Youth Orchestra (CYO), and I am staying at Interlochen Performing Arts Camp for three weeks this summer. I am now very passionate about the violin, and I hope to continue to grow as a violin player, and as a person all throughout high school next year.
