I don't play in the street but I have played in bars and if I had a pound(£) for every time someone started talking to me while I'm in the middle of a song I'd be a rich man. There is no feeling like playing live, though, and the buzz it gives when the audience like you is mighty.
Years ago, when I was playing drums in a four piece band, we arrived at a venue to find the PA wasn't working. We were considering apologising to the owner and heading home when the lead singer told us he didn't have enough petrol to get home and needed the booking money. We had no choice but to continue the show in some fashion and ended up rerouting the lead and backing vocals through the guitar amps. It made for an 'interesting' sound but the gig went well and everyone seemed happy.
I play a D'Angelico semi hollow body in Turquoise.
