I have been singing and playing guitar my entire life. My first stage performance with guitar was at age 7 in a coffeehouse in Venice, CA, near my hometown. Mom was a bit of a beatnick and I often went along. They couldn't resist that little kid who could sing and play folk songs. I couldn't resist the stage and was forevermore hooked. My first song performed onstage? "They Call the Wind Mariah."
I played pubs and honkytonks in ski country from the 60s thru the 80s. In the 90s and early 2000s I was a TV producer, but came back to playing music in my church in 2010.
Now my wife and I play in churches across New Hampshire and into Maine. I still play a lot of the good stuff from my stage days along with some of our original music. We have a CD out, available at http://www.reverbnation.com/garykfoote , and we are at work on our second CD.

Life on the Street
My partner and I were busking in Boston Common. We took a bit of a break and when we got back to it we discovered that the back of my guitar had peeled loose in the sun and was flapping loose. My partner had some crazy glue so we used that to reattach the back. Unfortunately we forgot to loosen the strings and when we turned it over to play, found the strings now riding a good half-inch off the fretboard. Totally unplayable by hand I finished out in an open tuning with a glass slide on my pinkie. Strangely enough we made more that day than any other. Go figure...
