I am also attracted to the jazz pop scene of the mid to late eighties,.( Level 42,Style council,
Everything but the girl , etc..... ) and some seventies groups like Steely dan ..etc...
My favorite group is Soft machine..Overall I love music with a good groove.
I also play in bars and restaurants,although I don't make enough money as to go professional.I haven't given up my day job,although music interferes with my career
ambitions,always has..Playing music is not my life but its certainly part of it,its more than a hobby.
On top of my instrumental cravings I like to preform Lou Reed classics and rarities.A tribute
maybe...Lou was not just a musician but a writer and a poet.
When you think of Lou you don't think of Micheal Jackson or Queen,more Burroughs and Poe...You can almost hear the New York subway traffic beneath his song narrations.
Its a privilege to present my tribute.
I was pitched in the south of Spain playing pretty unorthodox jazz over a weird backing track I had just produced,I was blowing one of my chromatic harmonicas,not particularly paying much attention to the passers by as I was practicing more than I was preforming,it was just too free,,
Suddenly a young student looking guy approached me on a pushbike and dropped a colored bundle in to my donation hat and then cycled off.After a couple of minutes I peeped to examine the colored bundle of which was no less than ninety euros,hows that for a catch.Feeling a little confused and suspicious I split..
Somebody approached me on the street and asked me to play ",happy birthday "I didn't cause I didn't know.
I could preform Chick Corea note for note but I couldn't do happy birthday.You can´t please
all the people.
Harmonicas eventually go out of tune,although if blown properly they still produce an attractive
sound more suited to fusion music than blues..I get very attached to my harmonicas but eventually you have to discard them,especially the small diatonic ones.
