It was New Years Eve maybe 1980...My friend Frank and I were playing a party for a local music store in Ft. Lauderdale..when a drummer we knew asked if he and his bass player friend could sit in with us......these two locked in better than our regular band mates....when our set was done the bass player wanted to play piano and asked me to call out a tune...I picked Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.....wish I had a recording of that nite....the bass player turned out to be Jaco Pastorius....Google him if you are not really impressed right now
My local road house the famous 20 Main was doing a Niel Young Tribute show just a few months after I had a triple aorta replacement.....I went on minutes after taking my afternoon course of meds launching into Cinnamon Girl at the loudest volume ever...for 46 seconds I suffered a complete disconnect between my brain and ears.....until I locked in it was God awful........people still look at me crooked for that one...Update: I just noticed that below is the very performance described....watch for the cut...I deleted the 46 seconds
At a guitar seminar in 96 I got to play a few choruses with Duke Robillard.....boy would I like a redo on that one
my first real guitar still is a 70's lefty Guild D-25 I bought in NYC in 78 for 240 bucks with the hard case....the case now cost 300 bucks so still a good deal........I wont list them here but there are now 14 lefty guitars hanging in my music room.....it's a short life
