Anyone who thinks they have an expensive hobby/passion has never talked to a musician. SO, LITTLE TIME. SO, MUCH EQUIPMENT has always been my motto.
Youtube.com/daerney has been an outlet for my performing needs, filling the void very nicely without the need to pound the pavement, "searching for another place to play".
I perform regularly at local nursing homes/facilities. On my last performance an 85 year old wheels up to me in his wheelchair and asks "would you like to go on a date with me?" to which I reply "sure, make sure you have your wallet. Your going to take me out in style. Whats the most expensive restaurant you know of?"
"Well, I was going to take you to the cafeteria here as they won't let me drive anymore".
My friend, who played keyboard, and I had worked out a few original songs to do at a Women's Festival in Florida. We get up on the stage and we are informed we can't use our portable keyboard we brought. We have to use the one on stage. The keyboard on stage was tuned to a funky key, not conducive to guitar playing, and there went our performance.
My Guild F-512NT, 12-string. This model was written up in "Guitar Player" as the best 12-string ever made. I have to agree with that. I've had mine since 1978 when, instead of paying rent, I bought my Guild. I named it "George" after George Harrison.
