Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

When I'm on stage performing I get into a zone and I apparently say some off the wall things to my band members and guests performing with me. Last year my good friend, Eric May, and I were performing a Waylon and Johnny song, Ain't No Good Chain Gang, during my He Wore Black, a Johnny Cash Tribute Show. He's about to jump into the second verse and I leaned in and said something to him, and neither of us knows what I said, but on the video you see Eric bust out laughing and forget the words to the second verse. We had a great show, and great fun. 2019 was the biggest show yet, over 400 people in attendance at the theatre and on stage, I had The Wildwood Roses (a Carter sisters tribute band), Eric May, Stan Perkins (son of Carl Perkins), myself and the He Wore Black Band. Two hours of entertainment! Boy, we had a big time!

Embarrassing Moment

You know you always want to look your best on stage so performers have a set of clothes we typically call our "show clothes", specifically for performance. Well, I was about to go on stage and one of the stagehands walks up to me and whispers in my ear, "you have a price tag showing and it looks like you got it on sale. Do you want me to cut this off or do you want to wear it on stage?" He cut the price tag off for me...but what he didn't see was the long plastic strip showing your size stuck to my pant leg of my new black jeans. The lights sure do reflect off that plastic stuff pretty good. :-)

My Instrument

I'm fortunate to own several guitars, I believe the last count was somewhere around 20 or so. My go-to guitar is my Martin D35, 50th Anniversary guitar. It really sings, but you'll often see me playing one of my many Takamine guitars too. I prefer the old 1970s era Takamine guitars.

None of my guitars have names, I call them names every now and then but none of them have a name :-)
