One night I was playing in a big hotel. I was playing a song by Bob Dylan. Will Smith walked right up in front of me and started bobbing his head left to right with a groovy dance and his mouth slightly tilted like he does... he said “ that’s what I’m talking about right there.. you got it! Right thereâ€. He and his wife and son stayed all night and watched me play. An amazing experience.
I was hired with my band to play the grand opening of the Crystal Bay Club in Lake Tahoe. The new owners were huge Jimmy Buffett fans. A couple days before the big show I started not feeling well. My bad and I had practiced and practiced and practiced and I started to lose my voice. The night of the big show I lost my voice entirely. The owners had come with all their friends waiting for the big show. I had to whisper to him “ I can’t sing I’ve lost my voice“. They were so disappointed but not as disappointed as I was. Never lose your voice when you’re a singer. It’s a deal breaker 🤣
The first guitar I got I played so much that I made a hole in it like Willie Nelson. It took years and years and years to whittle that wood away with my hands to make that hole. I bought a second guitar and over time I put a hole in that one also. Like the song says “ I bought my first real six string. Bought it at the five and dime. Play it tell my fingers bleed†That was me!
