More About Capacitors

My name is Dave Stevens - I have a virtual backup band called The Capacitors. We play an array of surf rock tunes with a Sci-Fi / Spy-Fi twist.

Check out the following sample:

Come and listen if you are feeling like a shot of instrumentals reminiscent of days gone by but with an eye on the present and future.

I have loved instrumentals as long as I can remember but didn't really find my way until I heard Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. They were the band that played in between skits on the old Kids in the Hall TV show (for those who remember). I loved the sound of the guitars with the cool heavy reverb and heavy double-picking. I wanted to create my own tunes in the same vein.

In the '90s, I was able to listen to many other modern influences and have continued to create my own brand of surf rock under the guise of my virtual band, The Capacitors.

I hope I can entertain people semi-live here - looking forward to performing for a virtual
Fun Stuff about the Artist

Life on the Street

I have never performed on the streets! I have performed on stage a few times live but no craziness ensued.

Embarrassing Moment

I have too many embarrassing moments playing in front of people casually - most involved thinking I was going to impress them but instead I just embarrassed myself. I am kind of expecting the same thing here for the most part. :)

My Instrument

My first decent guitar was purchased from a good friend for $100 - It was a beautiful neck-through-body guitar in light and dark wood with a gold bridge, controls, and jack input.

My friend sold it to me cheap because she never played it, but also because she knew I wanted a better guitar and so she was trying to help me out.

I played that for about two years, then became disenchanted with playing guitar. I sold it at a pawn shop and almost immediately regretted it. I went to get it back but it had already been sold. I still regret that decision to this day.

My current favourite guitar is a Jackson DK2S Inferno Red Electric Guitar. I like it's whammy bar setup with Sustainiac pickup, and find it easy to play overall. I have enough digital guitar processors that I can make any guitar sound pretty good, so it does the job for me.

Strangely I have never bothered to name my guitars! I probably never will.
