I was introduced to guitar by my Dad who is a big fan of classic country. Mom introduced me to some other styles of music and the combination of those two things sparked an interest that I'm sure will last a lifetime.
I'm very new to the site but I'm quickly learning that it's a friendly crowd and very welcoming. I look forward to spending some more time on here.
I'll share a few of my favourite music moments so far. One of them was when I went to play at open mic and didn't tell my parents, who were in the crowd, what I was going to play. I played liquor and whores they were pretty surprised haha.
Another favourite moment was playing a 50's tune and the crowd did the clapping part that goes along with the chorus. I didn't expect it at all. It made me smile and gave me an idea of how much fun live music can be once you get past the jitters.
I've always been nervous about playing with other musicians. I recently played at an open mic and a bass player and hand drummer jumped in. It added so much to the song!
My first guitar was a kids acoustic and I don't know what kind it was. My Dad sold it when I got older and grew out of it. I started playing my Dad's acoustic until I realized I needed my own.
I'm now very fortunate to own a Larrivee D04 acoustic, an American Standard Stratocaster, a Fender Telecaster (MIM) and a Fender Blues Jr. amp
My preference is definitely my acoustic and I'm starting to learn a little on the electric. Hopefully some day I'll break it out for some rockier/bluesier songs!
