Billy started playing and taking lessons at the age of 5. Was born in Indiana and started playing in bands at the age of 12. After High School Billy went out on the road for four years tourning with a top 40 band playing 6 nights a week. After touring Billy decided it was time to return to lessons and moved to Cailfornia to Study Berklee School Jazz Theory under Allen Rowe, who played with Stan Kenton Orch and was downbeat soloist of the year two years in a row. After completing Berklee's course Billy started playing with Los Angeles top Jazz BeBop players for another few years and than was signed by RSVP Record label where he recorded his first critically acclaimed CD (Shieldstone), featured Stanley Clarke, Jack DeJohnette, John Abercrombie, Airto, and Freddie Hubbard.
