I was born musically-influenced, but by whom? remains a mystery. My parents each had a special knack for music- dad sang, mom danced (all for fun, nothing serious.)- and they raised me to legendary songs, today termed "The Oldies." MoTown groups like the Temptations, especially, resonated naturally with me as I grew up.
I was 4 or 5 when the day finally came that I'd saved enough money to buy MY own music. I marched into the Wherehouse with my mom and my tooth fairy savings. Almost as fast, I walked out minutes later with my music in hand, my first, very own tape cassette.
The music I purchased that day was the hit single, "Regulators," by Nate Dogg & Warren G. Here lies the mystery. My parents had no clue who they were and thought rap was garbage at the time. So how I made it home with that song, I don't know. To this day, I can't draw an explanation for my purchase... All I know is that it made me feel at home.
